It's that time of the year again ! Another year has gone by so fast. Before I go into my new goals for 2016 I am going to recap on how my 2015 goals went
2015 Goals
1) Rise to lower limits poker
I am actually still stuck at 2NL online which I am to blame for this. I went a massive spell through summer that I didn't play poker for around 3 months straight. It has made me realise what stage I am at with my life.
2) Win an mtt
Again I failed this one, not enough volume put into mtt tourneys and although I won quite a few sng's I just couldn't get anywhere close to even a final table in mtt.
3) Collect 2,500 FPP points
I failed this one again due to lack of volume but when I did play especially the last half of the year I played well and that's important because in the past I use to play when I was tired, not in the mood or when I was hungry which are poor choices so I've improved a lot on that aspect.
4) Travel more often
I would have expected to get this but I actually hardly travelled this year. When I did travel Manchester was decent and London was pretty good but I was somewhat lazy on both trips, just felt tired and stuff but next year I have a big trip, more on that later.
5) Be more positive and don't overthink
I passed this one, been a lot happier in 2015 than 2014. 2014 was a good year but still a few tough times that I didn't handle the best I could. 2015 I have been a lot more positive and more proactive rather than reactive. I am being responsible for my results rather than blaming them.
6) Put a lot more effort into my Youtube videos
I am going to give myself a pass on this one. I didn't make many videos but I took more time with the ones I did make. I have made some of my older videos private because I had good times with those ones but I would rather my channel get taking more seriously now so have kept up the ones that I like the best. Youtube is not something I spend time on now but when I do make a video I take time. I will always use it, but I'll only be making videos now and then.
7) Help those worse off
I gave a lot of money to charity and I also give advice and try to help those who need it. This is something that makes me feel good about myself and I am grateful that I am in a position to help others.
8) Make at least 100 Vine videos
Hardly made any. I do enjoy Vine but it's not something I should focus on too much, it's always there when I want to use it.
9) Use Sky TV more often
I would say I used Sky less over 2015 which I am actually happy about because I feel this was a silly goal in the first place. I have spent so much more time out of the house which has actually developed me.
10) Learn 7 new songs on guitar
I learned more than 7 new songs. Been playing when I can and I am just really enjoying learning and getting better. Being a celebrity is not something I want anymore. I am happy just keeping music a fun hobby.
4/10 so I am happy about that because I like to set challenging goals and enjoy the process of them rather than get attached to the result. Another point I'd like to make is I think I have changed as a person a lot this year, for the better which I am happy about.
Let's take a look at next years goals now
2016 Goals
1) Learn Italian and Spanish fluently
This goal really excites me, my Italian is coming along, I'm part Italian so it's pretty sad I don't already know this language fully. As for Spanish well if I learn Italian then I should make it easier to learn Spanish. I love cultures and it really gets me interested how all parts of the world live their life. If I do well this year with 2 Latin languages I may go totally off the radar and try learning Russian or Arabic.
2) Win 3 live mtt poker tourneys
This is a big goal. I am travelling for 6 months with 3 of those months being in LA/Vegas so can't play online but they both have good live setups. So my plan is to play a few tournaments per week. But the fields should be pretty soft especially the stakes I am playing so I believe I have a good chance with this goal.
3) Win an mtt online 2,000+ players
I am on the road for half the year so this one will be tricky to get the volume in but I know how to play this game. I will have 1 or 2 chances making it deep to really go on to win one so I need an incentive to really push for this. Difficult but possible.
4) Be more social poker wise
This is a funny goal you are probably thinking but this one is something that goes along with me as a person. I want to play poker first and foremost to have a good time. I've been almost playing online for years except a few rare occasions. America will open me up to meeting people playing live and discussing poker and life.
5) Spend more consistent time with girls - I have always preferred chatting to girls on a more natural basis as in at swimming, shopping centres, on the street etc. I feel that girl can be themselves more in these environment. Clubs and bars although I like I just feel they are more false, period ! So I don't have a problem approaching girls, my problem I would say is more consistency. Sometimes I'm really busy and just don't have time, essentially the goal this year is to make time throughout the whole 12 months rather than some months going out other months too busy. I am trying to put a lot more importance on this one as I feel I am now at age that I still enjoy being single but would like to have a long term relationship too. I just go with fate and let things happen rather than force them,
6) Socialise more often - I am at a stage in my life now that poker and music are going to just be kept as hobbies, I can still be successful at both but I had to look at the purpose of each. I don't want to be rich and I don't want to be a celebrity so if that's the case why push myself with both. I am still going to get better at both, but the main thing I want is to have fun with both of them. I lost that for a while especially with poker, I was just playing but not really enjoying it the same way I use to. So I want to go back to the old way but still taking it seriously, so good bankroll management and go mindset. By being more social and spending time with lots of people this actually helps me focus on my hobbies. It makes me happier in the long run and that's what's important.
7) Pass my driving test
Been driving for a year and a half and I won't be doing much while away but when I get back this will be a priority. I will still theory study for 6 months then when I get back book that and hopefully pass 2nd time(already failed once) and then get some driving lessons in and pass just before Christmas. That's my plan but driving doesn't come too easy to me.
8) Drink more vodka
I want to go to more clubs, parties and pool parties in 2016. I won't drink every time I go but I want to drink most of the time I go. I workout enough to keep in good shape and I feel that I don't go overboard with exercise now. I always just stick to the same drink now so vodka is fine with my body.
9) Become 10 stone in weight
Being vegan, I can get lazy sometimes. It's going to be even more difficult with being away for 6 months but I want to put on over a stone. Right now I am 8.5 stone so got a long way to go, although I am a healthy bmi I would rather have some extra weight around me.
10) Become intermediate with skiing
I want to go up Glencoe soon and then when I get back again I want to make this something I get really good at. Haven't been skiing in years but really itching to go again. Bring on the snow !!
So a lot of really exciting goals for next year. As you can see I still love poker but I am not wanting to pursue is as a full time or part time career anymore. I love the game and I don't want to lose that. My main focus this year is to do a lot of social things, become a better person and spend more time with new hobbies, maybe play more tennis, play some basketball and read more books. I also want do sight seeing which I should have good chances to do that and lastly stop focusing on material things. I'm not too bad with material things but I have looked at my life and I believe being poor with just a little bit of extra money for fun is what would make me the most happiest financially. I would have no trust issues, it would force me out to meet people and it would allow me the freedom I crave.
I have this vision after I pass my driving test of buying a car and living out of it for a while, that would be an adventure.
So I hope you all have a lovely New Year and I also hope this blog has inspired you to create goals of your own for 2016.

WSOP Main Event 2015 Final Table
What a great Main Event coverage to watch this year. I really enjoyed so I am going to give you my analysis and view on the main and event final table.
This is what I dream of, Playing the main event and winning it ! I believe that dream will come true one day. If there is any tournament I want to win it is this one. I'm a big fan of poker as well as being a player. I love watching high stakes poker and the wsop main event. Poker has taking a decline in the last few years due to 5 main reasons that stick out to me
1) Online poker is illegal in America
2) The game is too serious
3) The games are tougher
4) TV shows have went in a wrong direction
5) Too much information out there to get good quick
So in a nutshell poker has actually went backwards and it suits people like me still who love the game but it doesn't suit Grandpa Tim who wants to watch the amateur win the main event. Even me who loves poker would much rather watch the stories and the drama than how many big blinds a player have. Anyway more on that later
So Joe McKeehen has won it and I won a bet ! Go me ! so here is my view on how each player played the Final Table
Joe McKeehen - He played small ball poker and basically ran the table. Nobody got in his way, yes he was hitting hands but he still played a great game. I actually think he'll have a few more big wins over the next few years, really impressed.
Josh Beckley - For me he played well until it got short handed. The JJ fold was good I thought, I mean it's a tough laydown. The problem with Josh is he let Joe play the game he wanted to play. Josh should have been making big raises and really putting Joe to the test. Still overall a very good player though.
Neil Blumenfield - Neil has a lot of guts and hearts and made for great TV play. He was three betting very light and I think he improved a lot, His problem was post flop. I actually think he played great the first night but short handed he seemed to get tight which was a mistake. I think he struggled post flop against Joe and he would have been much better being more aggressive like we had seen from him.
Max Steinberg - What a stud this guy is haha ! I like his mindset of wearing suits. If I was played live I wouldn't wear suits but I'd wear a nice shirt and jeans as more comfy for long periods of time but I'd have them set for each day, it's a good mentality imo. Max didn't play too good, he played far too tight and I actually his AJ fold was terrible in position.
Ofer Zvi Stern - He's far too erratic for me. He puts himself in a lot of spots he doesn't have, the one thing I like about him though his he always makes his opponent have to actually make a decision. His all in was pretty poor though, he could have min raised there.
Tom Cannuli - Tom impressed me throughout the tourney and I actually think he maybe played slightly tight at the final table but he got very unlucky with pocket Aces.
Pierre Neuville - He actually played a very good game and he made a lot of correct decisions, he just got very unlucky but it's good to see a 72 year old still playing with the big boys.
Federico Butteroni - Love this guy ! He played okay but I felt he could have been a bit more loose and maybe pushed a bit earlier.
Patrick Chan - Not much to comment on his final table as only 2 hands in, with his stack size and knowing how lost Joe is playing on the button I actually think it was the correct move calling with KQ. He had to double up pretty soon so if he doubled there he would have had a shot with some chips
ESPN actually done a much better job this year in regards to coverage. They made it more about drama and the stories, I still think they can even make it more on that though. I'd love to see another amateur win it or a female. They should also make Day 1's and Day 2's TV coverage again. That was fun.
Three players I'd have liked to see make the final table
1) Daniel Negreanu - Poker ambassador and he's a great friendly guy who is the all time money leading player. This would have been great if he made it, it wasn't to be though but a great showing from Daniel. He's my favourite player.
Jason Schwartz - This guy is actually a really good player but what makes him great for TV is he's an asshole. I don't mean that to berate the guy, he's had a lot of troubles in the past from what I have heard, he's almost breaks the rules a lot of times like trash talking during hands, calling clocks early and when he busted he didn't do handshakes, was fun to watch. I'm a friendly talkative guy at the tables, I personally think I'd be good for TV tables but this guy is the opposite way but he's very good. Shame he busted to a cooler.
Kelly Minkin - Hot ! Hot ! Hot ! Okay she's a very attractive female lawyer who can play poker. I'll need to watch it back again but I'm pretty sure she made 2 key mistakes before she busted. This would have been great for poker though if she made the final table, even better if she won
So sad to see it's over and I actually had a week off from poker last week so it was refreshing watching the final table, made me want to play a tourney, so played a couple last night but busted ! Poker commentary was great too and I would love to go to Vegas and play at WSOP. I have played a sat before but no event or main event yet, soon though
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pokerstars are making some changes very soon so here's the changes and my view on them.
1) Rake at higher limits will either be non existent or very few
2) Hud's could be banned or are being restricted
3) FPP's are getting exchanged for Value Coins
So personally it suits me as I play micro stakes and it means I will actually probably make more value coins as it helps Chromestar players, but it's not about me it's about the whole poker community. Are these changes good for poker ? Absolutely yes !
The majority of players who play this game play as a hobby and something they do in their spare time and have fun. So why would we not make this experience fun for these players ?
The FPP's are a great thing, I mean the high stakes players don't realise that it prevents them from making profit from actually just being a break even player who makes money through rake back. It actually forces them to have to become better if they want to survive. That is healthy competiton. At the top level too many players bum hunt extremely and hardly play against each other, now table selection is important but if hardly any games are running I think you just have to man up and played against top players. It's like Messi in football., If he was playing in a low pro division he would look a standout cause he is playing against weaker players as oppose to himself. Now he plays with Barca and is still a stand out, maybe not scoring 10 goals every game but my point is the higher the limit you play, the better the players will be, ideally weaker players make you profit but if weaker players aren't at that level then I don't think it's a problem to play to play against top players and learn from them.
I'm looking forward to what this brings to Pokerstars, just looking at the latest promotions I actually think it's a step in the right direction. Hopefully America will be back online soon again too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So apart from some poker studying and playing I've just been chilling this weekend. The next month will be poker and I might be going out next week to a club, haven't done that in awhile. Looking forward to Christmas coming. I love the whole build up to it, great times !

Winter Blog
So been a while since I blogged one of these, it's hard to write a blog on a tablet so I finally have my phone set up to write this one, can't promise I'll have too many of those anytime soon but quality over quantity, right ?
So I'll categorise each section of my life right now and give you some details on it
Poker - I have been really persistent with poker lately playing 25 hours in total each week, 22 playing and 3 studying. I love playing more than studying obviously but I still know it's important to study especially in this day and age when the games are getting tougher and tougher. I have a much better mindset with poker and although I haven't made a mark anywhere yet I do feel as if I am getting somewhere . I have a lot of big ambitions to play at the top level. it takes hard work and dedication but I believe I'll get there eventually. The plan for rest of year is to grind out micro cash games daily and play tourneys on a Sunday. On a side note I have been really enjoying this years wsop main event , Daniel Negreanu making a deep run is great for poker. Daniel is a nice chatty guy so easy to root for and he's very personal which makes a lot of people know loads about him so he's great for the game. I got the chance to meet him in 2013 when I was in Vegas and he tried to do a Scottish accent ha !
Fitness - I workout 5 days a week but I have missed the odd day lately so need to make sure that doesn't happen soon again, exercise suits me a lot better in the morning so trying to stick with that the best I can. Going to also add swimming in on Sundays when I am free.
Relationships - I am single and I'm not even going on dates or anything lately but I am happy. I think personally I'm just more suited up being single especially in my 20's. A married, family life may come to later in life and although I'd like that it's not what I want out of life just now. I want to really focus on my poker and if it takes off I will be traveling a lot more often. Life can be surprising though
So getting tired so going to watch a movie on TV or Netflix now. My plan for rest of year is to play lots of poker, spend quality time with family and focus on my driving. Won't be on the road again until next year but got a few places in mind I fancy. Maybe be going a trip with my close friend and also looking to go down south and play MicroMillions Event from hotel but still working out when MicroMillions is, also looking to go another sight seeing sort of trip. Time for me to select my movie

Changes
So been feeling sluggish somewhat lately so this week and evaluated my life stance and decided to make changes. Changes are good, they help you figure out who you are as person. So some of my focuses as of late are as follows
Vegan - Being vegetarian is massive step but I always feel I can do more. I was vegan once before, it can be tricky especially eating out but I've decided that this is something true to my heart. Factory farming is cruel, extremely cruel and I just feel I can't be a part of that. I don't believe a vegan diet to be unhealthy anyway if managed correctly. I'm not one for really telling people what to eat but I also don't hide me either. Like I'd always advise people to think about what they are eating but not be in their face about it.
Poker - Had a break from poker for a while but ready to come back and really work hard. What do I want out of this game ? I want to be a great player who gets to the top. When my play is at a very good standard and I build up to high stakes I'll look into the more media side of things like commentary etc, that interest me but I have to prove myself first. The games are getting tougher but I'm ready for the challenge that awaits.
Casual Dating - I'm 24 and although I've dated a good number of girls I have never been in a long term relationship, I can think of 2 main reasons for this. Firstly I enjoy my own company. I'm an introvert, I'm actually quite sociable when I'm out and stuff but give me a choice of going to a club or going to the cinema and I'd choose the cinema, don't get me wrong I actually enjoy going to clubs but that's cause I only go the odd times so it's fresh and exciting. I just like my own time, analysing and exercising. Playing video games, I need alone time to function so I think because of this it doesn't make me need another person around as eagerly as maybe someone else. Secondly I am lucky to have a very strong family unit so I therefore feel loved, like from a kid to now always felt loved by my family. But I do enjoy meeting girls so I would like to continue what I do without any pressure but maybe give myself that extra little bit of effort.
Exercise - I'm usually very disciplined with my exercise regime but due to traveling down England lately and sitting about when I got back I didn't keep my standard exercise. Still worked out but skipped a couple of sessions, not normal for me. So tomorrow I am back out running twice and week alongside my normal workouts of three times a week. I'll keep this for a month and then maybe add another exercise like boxing or something. Don't worry I only shadow boxing.
So that is a couple of my focuses at the moment. I'll always be a kid at heart but I'm getting wiser about certain things and I do feel I'm becoming a better person overall. My advice for anyone who is feeling a bit down or lazy lately is to
1) Schedule better
2) Do what makes you happy
3) Focus only on the present
Thank you for reading this blog. I want to blog more often again.
